Raz's life story

Raz Mizrahi was a fighter and officer with the Border Police and was injured in a vehicular attack during her service and returned after rehabilitation.

She was murdered on October 7, 2023, during a music festival in Re'im.

Childhood and youth

Raz was born in 2001 in Gedera to Gal and Nirit Mizrahi, followed by siblings Noa and Dor. She loved hip-hop dancing, was a member and instructor in the Maccabi Tzair youth movement, and participated in Gedera's youth council. She studied Arabic in high school at "Derech Ramot." From a young age, Raz loved to sing. She performed at school ceremonies and on a class trip to Poland. Raz was always surrounded by friends, and  loved to have fun, and enjoy life

Military Service

Ever since Raz had a dream of serving with the Border Police, she did everything she could to get it. On March 2020 She enlisted with the Border Police. During her training period, her commanders identified her potential and she successfully completed the commanders' course. In July 2020, she was appointed as a commander in the Lamed-Aleph military unit in the West Bank

2021 Israel–Palestine crisis

During "Shomer Homot" Operation on May 16, 2021, Raz's unit was deployed to reinforce Jerusalem. During a shift, they prepared for a protest in the 'Sheikh Jarrah' neighborhood. A terrorist drove into their area, injuring six fighters, including Raz. She was pinned under the vehicle, saw the terrorist with a knife, and managed to hold the door with her legs until her comrades neutralized him. Raz was taken to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital to recover as her injury sustained was in her back.

Rehabilitation and officer course

Raz underwent four grueling months of physical and psychological rehabilitation, dealing with anxiety and PTSD. She received comprehensive support from the "belev echad" non profit organization, which included learning to surf—a significant part of her recovery. Despite recommendations to leave the military, Raz was determined to continue her service. She fought courageously to rejoin her unit and was accepted into the Border Police officers' course, graduating successfully on her 21st birthday, October 30, 2021, and returned to her unit as an officer

"Belev echad" non profit organization

Two months after completing the officers' course, Raz was discharged from the military and began volunteering with "belev echad" , who had helped her recover after her injury. Established in 2009, "Belev Echad" assists wounded soldiers in their rehabilitation. Raz found her mission in the organization, helping other wounded soldiers and becoming an inspiration. Her significant contributions included participating in delegations to share her courageous story worldwide.

 7 October 2023- Nova Festival

On October 7, 2023, Raz was murdered in a bomb shelter near Be'eri along with her close friend Kim Dorkerker and dozens of others from the Nova Festival. Her last call was made to the police at 8:00 AM, where she demonstrated remarkable composure and leadership

In Memory of Raz

The phrase that guided Raz was "It's all nonsense," reflecting her love for life and her ability to find the good in people and situations. Her family and friends continue to honor her daily, sharing her story through lectures in high schools.
